Travel: The Driftwood Beaches of Jekyll Island

Jekyll Island is part of the Golden Isles of Georgia and is currently owned by the State of Georgia. Jekyll Island has a long and rich history starting with the Guale and the Mocama Natives but were killed or forced to leave when the English settled.

Jekyll is a beautiful island that should be preserved for future generations and not developed any more than it already is.

For photographers, it is especially interesting as it is a barrier island where there are many driftwood trees lying in state on the beaches. Driftwood, stretched out across the beach as far as the eye can see. Every tree washed up on the beach is a blank canvas for your imagination. Whether it be dystopian landscapes, large, beached spiders, exotic sea creatures coming up to shore to battle, the sky is the limit when it comes to your imagination.
