I used to enjoy wedding photography and shooting weddings. The problem is if pressed, I could not readily give a reason I would want to shoot a wedding these days. The fact of the matter is I would rather not if given the choice. I could not give any concrete facts, or justifications for my reasoning, I just know it to be the truth.
I am not sure if it is me that has changed or is it because the expectations and outcomes have changed. Circling back to the subject, I would never oppose the idea of wedding photography in general. I would say, that if it was on my terms, and I could come up with a vision with the bride and groom while being able to keep my artistic vision, work practice, while also getting the shots they feel are important, I would be all in.
The question is had I changed or has wedding photography changed. Maybe it is a little of both. I have gotten older and crankier and the expectations for video full coverage from dawn till the last sparkler goes out seem excessive. If I could find the middle ground, it could be something I could get on board with. Going full circle, I have to say I do enjoy shooting weddings, but only under certain conditions
Something to ponder…
